Stock update

Long overdue update on how this little project is going!

So far, we've sold well in excess of 1800 prints, raising more than $36,000 for the Stillbirth Foundation Australia. But we have 3100 prints all up, and we'd dearly love to sell the lot (and we know we eventually will, we just need to keep getting the word out!)

Sold out prints include: The Three Pigs, The Three Bears, Jack and the Beanstalk, Sleeping Beauty, Thumbelina, The Gingerbread Man and The Ugly Duckling.

We are running low on The Golden Bird, The Red Shoes, The Princess and the Pea and The Little Mermaid. We have plenty left of Hansel and Gretel, The Emperor's New Clothes, Rumplestiltskin and The Wolf and the Seven Little Kids.

We'll keep everyone posted if we do a reprint. The best and quickest way to keep up with the news is through the Facebook page at

Tonia has also designed a poster for people to download and print to put up around their home towns, and if anyone wants a copy, please email me at

Thanks again for your support. We've had so much fun with all of this.

More sell outs and some media news!

Sleeping Beauty, the illustration done for Hope's birthday, The Gingerbread Man and Jack and the Beanstalk have now all sold out as well.

Fairy Tales for Hope also got some national news coverage this week, which you can read about here

We've surged well past the half way mark for sales now, but we'd dearly love to sell the rest.

Please keep telling your friends and family about our project, and spread the word about us in any way you can. We believe the main reason the prints haven't sold out yet is because not enough people know about us.

You can also like us on Facebook here: and prints can be purchased here:

In the lead up to Christmas, consider buying one of our prints for a present. When matched with the corresponding book, it makes a gorgeous gift that truly makes a difference - contributing to vital research to ensure fewer babies lose their lives in utero.

Thanks again for everyone's support of this beautiful little project which has really warmed my heart since the day it all began.

Stock update

Just a quick update for everyone who is still following us here!

Along with Thumbelina being sold out, The Ugly Duckling and The Three Bears are also sold out. There are also only three left of The Gingerbread Man, six of Jack and the Beanstalk and seven of Sleeping Beauty.

In other good news, the Stillbirth Foundation have also started mailing out the orders, and they are arriving in letterboxes all over the country (haven't heard of one arriving overseas yet, but I'm sure that won't be far off).

Tonia and I have also been interviewed by The Age newspaper here in Melbourne, and a story will be coming out soon.

Please keep sharing our project with your family and friends to help us sell the remainder of our prints.

Fairy Tales updates...

I have been so busy maintaining our Facebook page and keeping up with all the goings on with Fairy Tales for Hope, that I have neglected to update our blog.

A lot has been happening in Fairy Tales for Hope land, so let me fill you in:

  • Our story was featured on mamamia this week. We'd LOVE it if you could head over and have a read, and leave a comment as well. While we're incredibly grateful it has been given a run, it was a long way buried down on their page and we're not sure anyone will really see it where it has been placed. Still, some exposure is better than no exposure. You can read it here: There will be a story published in Leader Newspapers in Melbourne next week and we will share a link once that goes up on their website. We are still chasing a few other media opportunities.
  • Thumbelina has sold out! We are going to try really hard to get another print run, but it is difficult  when you're asking for freebies and calling in favours. We'll keep everyone updated about that. As a result of this, we've also had to remove the option to buy the whole set. If you would still like to purchase the set at this point, just be aware it will be without Thumbelina. Email the Stillbirth Foundation direct to enquire about this.
  • We have had more than 200 orders with more than 900 prints sold, and that was an update I got a few days ago, so those numbers have surely gone up again now. This is such a great result, given they only went on sale a week or so ago. There are 3100 prints all up, and we'd still dearly love to sell each and every one of them, to raise as much money as we possibly can, after all that is what this project is about.
  • Orders are coming in from all over the world! We will ship anywhere in the world for $16AUD, no matter how many you order, or anywhere in Australia for $12AUD.
  • The Stillbirth Foundation have also now got their own Facebook page, which I will be looking after. If you want to keep up to date with the work they are doing to raise stillbirth awareness, please head over and like their page They are hosting a ball in November and it promises to be a lot of fun, so get together a table if you're interested.
  • The illustrations are now finally printed! They are being delivered to the Stillbirth Foundation offices in Sydney today, so hopefully within a few weeks, they will be able to begin posting them out. This will be a huge job for them with the number of prints on order, so please be patient. They are also waiting on a delivery of specially made boxes to send them out in, so the prints arrive to you in the best possible condition.
  • Other popular prints at the moment are The Ugly Duckling, Sleeping Beauty, Cinderella, The Princess and the Pea and Jack and the Beanstalk so if you are interested in any of those, please get your orders in soon!
That is probably all for now. Just want to take this opportunity to thank everyone for their support and generosity so far.

One day left!

Can you believe August is nearly over and after tomorrow, there will be no more daily illustrations to share? I can hardly believe it. I'm so amazed at the work Tonia has done and how she's been able to keep up this frenetic pace of creative energy.

Please keep checking here on the blog and on our Facebook page for details on when and how to order. We'll share them as soon as we have a firm idea of how it is all going to work.

This has been such a fun and worthwhile project to be involved with and we can't wait until all the completed prints are in our hot little hands and ready to send out to you all.

It makes me feel incredibly warm and fuzzy to think of these prints one day adoring the walls of your children's bedrooms, all over the world, knowing that you have helped support a wonderful cause for babies who are gone too soon.

Check back again tomorrow to see what the last illustration will be!

Day thirty, Rumplestiltskin

$20 plus postage, 250mm x 250mm.

Paper and printers, hurrah!

We are very excited to have a paper supply company and printer on board to bring our little project, Fairy Tales for Hope, to life.

Australian Paper have kindly donated the paper and Ellikon Certified Green Printing will be taking care of the printing side of things. We are so incredibly grateful that these two wonderful companies are donating their goods and services so that all of the funds raised through this project can be passed on to the Stillbirth Foundation Australia.

Stay tuned for more details at the end of the month when the daily illustrations are complete on when and how to order. At this stage, we plan on having them available through the Stillbirth Foundation website with a small charge for shipping. We are hoping to be able to ship internationally as well.

Thank you for your interest so far and keep your eye on this blog and the Fairy Tales For Hope Facebook page for more information.

Welcome to Fairy Tales for Hope

In August 2008, my world came crashing down when mine and my husband's first baby girl died inside of me, four days past my due date. I’d had a dream pregnancy, perfect and healthy in every way, but she slipped away during my labour and was stillborn. She was eight pounds and perfect, just not breathing. Our hearts were broken and we were plunged in to darkness. We named her Hope.

Since that day, I have supported the Stillbirth Foundation Australia to help reduce the incidence of stillbirth. Currently, about 2000 babies are stillborn in Australia every year, or six a day –  and that's six too many. About 1 in 140 pregnancies end in stillbirth and there are about as many stillbirths each year as there are breast cancer victims. Yet it is rarely spoken about and remains one of society’s great taboos. We want to change that.

When you come home from hospital with empty arms you are suddenly thrust in to a world when you have to live without the baby you had long been dreaming about. When pregnant with Hope, a vision I had of our future was reading fairy tales together, given they are such a huge part of any childhood. A dear friend of mine and designer/illustrator Tonia Composto, is now honouring Hope’s memory by creating an illustration of a different fairy tale every day this August and at the end of the month we plan on selling prints of her designs for $20 plus postage with all proceeds going to the Stillbirth Foundation. We’ve called this beautiful project Fairy Tales for Hope.

Since the project kicked off a few days ago we have been sharing pictures of Tonia’s work on Facebook amongst our networks and the response has been phenomenal. People love her work and we know by the end of the month, we are going to have many people interested in getting their hands on these unique and vibrant creations.

The project is still in it's infancy and we are still working hard to fine tune all the details and ins and outs. We are looking to get a printer and paper supply company on board as well as affordable options for packaging and delivery. The project already looks like it is going to be huge, which is fantastic, but we also don't want it to get away from us. We have some really exciting ideas of ways we can make it even more successful and can't wait to share them with you.

I feel so lucky to have a friend like Tonia in my life, as she's been by my side during every single second of my grief. She was one of the first people I contacted when Hope died and at a moment's notice, she designed booklets for Hope's funeral as well as thank you cards. She has since designed  thank you cards of my two living children, as well as birthday invitations and the like. She is gifted and it only takes one quick look at any of her work to know that. I look at her art every single day, as three of her gorgeous pieces hang on my living room wall.

For now, I will get posting on the first few designs for the month. We know you're going to love them and stay tuned for details on how to go about ordering at the end of the month. We will post information as it comes to hand - we have hit the ground running as this idea was only dreamed up a few days ago.

Watch this space.
